NICE TO MEET YOU.
My Story
I'm Caroline. I'm from McLean, VA and I studied journalism at the University of Missouri. At Mizzou, I majored in international convergence journalism and minored in art history. As a journalist, I am passionate about telling innovative and compelling digital stories.
I grew up in a family of storytellers, which inspired me to pursue a career in storytelling at a young age. In high school, I assisted a local Washington D.C. photojournalist on assignments for Teen Vogue and wrote for my local newspaper. I also started my own photography business.
As a convergence journalism student at Mizzou, I frequently pitched multimedia stories to local outlets and learned how to market those stories across social media platforms. Through my convergence emphasis, I also gained hands-on experience working in groups, managing teams and trying my hand in a variety of multimedia platforms.
It was ultimately these same skills that landed me in two international newsrooms. Last year, I worked at CBS News in London and CNN International in Atlanta. I had incredibly transformative experiences at both news outlets, where I was able to work in both breaking news and long-form journalism.
This summer, I was one of six recipients of the RJI Student Innovation Fellowship, which allowed me to experiment with innovative storytelling strategies at the Chatham News + Record. From starting the local newspaper's TikTok account to creating its very first AMP story, my time at the News + Record allowed me to hone my creative storytelling skills and learn more about engagement journalism. Now, I'm looking forward to applying my convergence skills to a full-time job, in either digital reporting or audience engagement.
In my free time, I enjoy going to concerts, baking and spending time with my friends. Traveling, however, is my favorite hobby; you can check out my travel blog here.
